The first golfing option in Woodstock is the Cherokee Golf Center, a public 9-hole course with a par of 54 that was designed and built during 1994.
This half course is perfect for getting out and spending an afternoon walking. This is because the range is almost 1800 yards long and there are no golf carts allowed on the property. You’ll only get a pull cart to use when going on your merry way. You’ll have a wonderful time trying to make par on this cozy little course while getting yourself a little bit of outdoor exercise.
The uniquely designed holes offer just the right level of challenge to make it interesting. However, it’s not so much as to be irritating.
The 7th hole is beautiful. Starting from an elevated tee you’ll navigate your way towards a green that is backed by some large rocks. It offers a different look than the typical link and is a sight to see.
The 4th hole is a wet hazard that makes it one of the most difficult of the course. As the water surrounds the green, you’ll have to be on your best game to land on target. Most will be taking a drop on this one after making their best attempt at landing a drive, or playing it safe and chipping across the water, to land smartly on the vibrant green.
Additionally, there are many other great holes to play at Cherokee. However, the longest hole is only about 155 yards. If you’re a fan of par 3’s, then this course will definitely tickle your fancy. This is definitely one of the best golf courses in Woodstock, GA so be sure to check it out.
2. Towne Lake Hills Golf Club
♦ Holes: 18 Par: 72 Length: 6784 yards
Another great course in the Woodstock area is the Town Lake Hills Golf Club. This public course is more classy, traditional, and higher quality than the previous half course. This also means that it is a more expensive and exclusive course than the others in the area as well.
It’s a picturesque and sprawling 18 hole, par 72 course that covers almost 7,000 yards of playable turf. If you’re lucky enough to get the opportunity to play this course, you should take full advantage of the visit.
Playing here is a bit of a challenge. There are many elevation changes and undulating greens, so you’ll be faced with some tough shots for sure. However, if you enjoy the game of golf, and enjoy thinking through and executing the more technical types of swings, then you’ll find all that you seek at Towne Lake Hills.
The course is well-kept and managed by a wonderful, knowledgeable, and friendly staff. Thanks to all of their hard work, this course offers every player a supreme golf experience. Be sure to show your appreciation and take care of the grounds while you’re their guest.
3. Eagle Watch Golf Club
♦ Holes: 18 Par: 72 Length: 6784 yards
Adding to the list of the best golf courses in Woodstock, GA, the Eagle Watch Golf Club is another top-notch choice for anyone who wants to spend the afternoon playing a round of golf.
Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay designed this course back in 1989, so you know upfront that this one is definitely a treasure. The two well-known, highly skilled and knowledgable architects made this into a wholesome, classic course. It’s seeping with creativity that is perfect for your enjoyment.
Another with 18 holes and par 72, this course offers a variety of challenges that will test your skills in many ways. However, being a solely private club, it may be a challenge just getting the opportunity to play on this one. If you’re lucky enough to get past all the red tape, then you’ll be rewarded with an epic round of golf.
With its basic design, touched with a tinge of artistic expression, this course is perfect for a somewhat challenging round. At the same time, it keeps you focused on the basics of golfing gameplay.
A final plus to the course design is that, with it’s sometimes fast Bermuda greens, you may just nail the longest putt of your golfing career while playing at Eagle Watch.
4. Capital City Club Crabapple
♦ Holes: 18 Par: 72 Length: 7137 yards
The final option for golfing in the city of Woodstock, GA, is a quaint, but long course. It measures in with over 7000 yards of playable turf, 18 holes, and a par of 72. It’s a private golf course known as the Capital City Club Crabapple.
Designed by course architect Tom Fazio, the layout of this one will challenge every aspect of your game. The long drives that dog left or right and chip shots with hazards are strategically placed with the purpose of forcing you into a very narrow set of options. It ends with undulating or sloped greens that are very deceiving. Your shot will break while gliding across many of them during your almost assuredly long putts. This course definitely has it all.
Also, this course keeps you on your toes and thinking through every shot. For instance, the 3rd hole is a long downhill par 3. It has some major bunkers on one side and lands you in on a redan green.
Then immediately following that challenge, is a long uphill par 5 for the 4th hole. This hole has multiple fairway bunkers and ends in another tough green, but this time, it’s one that has a false front. The rest of the course continues on in this fashion.
If you don’t fully think through your shots, and then fail to execute your swings with at least an average level of precision, then you’ll find yourself in bogey town all afternoon. Yet, if you’re one to enjoy a highly technical and thought-provoking round of golf, then Crabapple surely is the course for you.
